Some photos of the Indigenous Gardens Project at Wissatinnewag. Indigenous varieties of corn (Metacomet Red flint), beans (indigenous cranberry bean); and squash (Connecticut field pumpkin and Algonkian pumpkin) make up our traditional 3 Sisters mound plantings. We also have ceremonial tobacco gardens (Cornplanter tobacco). Friends of Wissatinnewag Inc. is using these beautiful gardens to begin our indigenous seed-saving project, which strives to protect these indigenous varieties for future generations!
